Tervetuloa Suomeen!

… or welcome to Finland! That’s what our teacher always tells us whenever there is some irregularity in the rules for learning Finnish.

Yes, I am learning Finnish again. While I have heard many times that it is an extremely difficult language to learn, I still feel like giving it a try.

With my new position at work, which includes less travelling, I now spend much more time being in Finland. This finally allowed me to continue with my Finnish lessons. My first and only Finnish course I did is already a while back (spring 2011 to be exact) so I was excited to go back to studying. I decided on an intensive course which is now taking place every evening from Monday to Thursday for 1.5 hours. Obviously with work, courses and all the homework my leisure time is fairly limited as my calendar shows:

suomi1_jatkoNevertheless it is a lot of fun. And believe it or not… I actually already signed up for the next two (!) continuation courses! With lectures only once a week (both courses on the same day), I will spend my Tuesday evenings from September to December (hopefully) improving my Finnish skills… Tervetuloa Suomeen!
