It is the middle of the year, time of the summer solstice and time to celebrate this with the midsummer festivities! While I’ve been in Finland for midsummer (or Juhannus as the Finns call it), I never have experienced a traditional celebration of this event. But this year I’m in Hauho/Kokkila and hopefully later today will see my first juhannus bonfire ever… A bunch of drunk people lighting a huge fire? What could possibly go wrong :-)
