Susihiihto 2013

Thanks to Ilkka, I heard about Susihiihto, which is a local skiing event for families and everyone who is interested. With the Engadin Skimarathon around the corner, I was first hesitant if I should participate, but in the end decided to go with the 30km round (there is also a 50km round, which would have definitely been to far).

As it was snowing during the night, tracks were generally in bad conditions. Deep soft snow made it really exhausting to ski. Additionally the tracks through the woods are quite narrow making it difficult to overtake other people. But after all, Susihiihto is a family event, not really a race. No rush on the tracks and plenty of options to stop at one of the refreshing stations for a quick break. With a good start, I decided to stop in Nickby for the first time and then again in Gesterby.
All in all I’m quite happy about today’s result:

Hansas-Immersby 6.17km 31:33
Immersby-Hindsby 7.04km 40:21
Hindsby-Nickby 6.25km 35:07
Nickby-Gesterby 6.27km 32:44
Gesterby-Hansas 5.35km 27:47
Total 31.09km 2:47:40
