Quick visit in Tokyo

In midst of my half marathon preparation I was told that I would have to go to Tokyo. Ignoring the bad timing, I agreed to attend the training workshop there, under the condition that I would be back in Finland early enough to still make it to Rovaniemi in time. After all I didn’t want to miss this one race I had been looking forward for almost a year.

Flight schedule was tight as we would still be celebrating Midsummer on the weekend before I would have to take my flight to Tokyo on Sunday. Thursday I was already flying back so that I could take a flight on Friday to Rovaniemi in time for the half-marathon on Saturday… I gave myself an extra day because I wanted to see the Santa Claus village :-).

Everything went more or less as planned. Tokyo was kind of fun. Met some new people and obviously found some new bars as well.. Not really the best race preparation, but then I thought with all the jetlag I would have, this wouldn’t matter that much anymore… On the upside I managed to squeeze in two runs along the nearby channel and was fairly surprised how far I managed to run without feeling too exhausted. Good indicators for the upcoming race.
