My phone network for finland

Because I’ll soon leave for my 4 month internship in finland, I started thinking about how to stay in contact with my family and friends. I was looking for a simple (and cheap) way for everyone to contact me during my stay.

Allthough the graph below looks very chaotic, it’s in my oppinion the smartest way to connect everything. The hub for all this will be Skype with its different functions like Skype-In and Call-Forwarding. I stopped using this tool for several reasons, but for this application it seems almost perfect.

Basically almost everything goes through Skype. From there on, I’ll get the calls through my computer or Skype forwards them to my finnish mobile phone. In the end, I can be reached from Switzerland as followed:

  • By phone on my new Skype-In number
  • By phone on my old mobile numer (where the call gets forwarded to my Skype-In number)
  • By phone directly on my finish mobile phone
  • By text message on either my swiss or finish mobile phone
  • By Skype directly

Because I wont be in front of my computer all the time, I will set up Skype to forward all calls to my finish mobile phone. Like this, I should be able to get my phone calls from Switzerland and Finland all the time. Happy connected world :-)
