Getting started in Finland

First week

After arriving, the first week was mainly about getting me all settled up. Besides getting a prepaid sim card and moving into the appartement, which was already organised by Ilkka, we had to do a lot of paperwork. Starting from setting up the contract, going to the local police to registrate myself and applying for a social security number at Maistratti. Still now, I have some things to arrange, but at least I got my internet all set up (which wasn´t that easy at all). Additionally, we used the Nordic Remote Sensing Days to meet all people, which are/were important for the project I’m now working on.

Second week

After all the unpacking I soon realised, that the kitchen equipement doesn’t fit my famous 5* cuisine. So I had to get myself some more things from Ikea :-). Allthough even the hotdogs where more expensive than in Switzerland, this was probably the cheapest place to buy these things. Fully equiped, I’m now ready for any housewarming party…
