With the beginning of a new year one starts to think about the plans for the coming months. As sport is a quite important part of my life, I wanted to prepare a race schedule for 2013. Even though my work might not allow me to participate some of them, one can still try and aim for certain events.
Below are the events I’m planning to attend, most of them are longer distances, which means that I will have a lot of excercising ahead of me (no marathon though). Nevertheless I’m looking forward to many nice runs, which will allow me to explore more parts of Helsinki/Finland.
10.03.13 – Engadin Skimarathon
Quite a tradition in our family, and this year I will try my best to be able to participate. After having missed two years in a row, I will now start in the red class for the first time.
21.04.13 – Länsiväyläjuoksu
17.4km around the bay between Helsinki and Espoo. This must be a really scenic run and I’m really looking forward to be participating here.
04.05.13 – Helsinki CityRun
Since I moved to Finland I wanted to compete on this run. As the route goes through the middle of Helsinki, I might see some new parts of my home town.
29.06.13 – Rovaniemi Marathon
Just a few days after midsummer, this run will be under the never-setting sun. As I have never been that far north, this will be an event to remember.
25.07.13 – Meripäiväjuoksu
Perfect opportunity to combine Meripäivät in Kotka with a 15km running event.
31.08.13 – MidnightRun Helsinki
With the days shortening and the start in the late evening, this will be fun to run these 10km again in the dark.
21.09.13 – Espoon Rantamarathon
Season ending in Espoo. 21.1km along the sea, I’m sure that this will be a beautiful run!
That’s about it. One event a month. If some of you want to join me, just let me know ;-) I happily offer food and accomodation at my place for anyone who would be interested…
