2013 is here!

… and it came way too fast. Nevertheless it’s a good time to look back on this years events:

January-June

The first half of the year is very easy to sum up: a big FINNMAP project kept me in Thailand for over 5 months (even though intentions were that I only be there for a few weeks). I was quite unhappy that I missed numerous events, where I would have spent time with friends and family. But as Fabienne visited me in Bangkok, I had a few days to relax when she took me to Phuket and showed me all the beautiful spots on that island.

July/August

Summer was a bit more relaxing. After our traditional project manager meeting (this year in Emäsalo), I had at least some nice summer weekends in Finland. With all the nice weather I even took out my road bike more frequently. From the first half of the year I also still had some overtime to compensate – ideal to start excercising more…

September/October

With the year progressing quickly, it was soon time for another trip, this time again towards Asia. Visiting this part of the world more often it now already feels like home. People, Cities, Restaurants and everything seems very familiar and with all our staff living abroad there is always good company everywhere. October was then the time for Intergeo and ELMF… as always good opportunities to meet with other people in the field of geomatics.

November/December

Nearing the end of the year, I was heading south again. This time a little bit more excited as I was crossing the equator for the first time in my life. While winter had definitely arrived in Finland, I traveled through Africa, enjoying some warmer temperatures. After three weeks of summer feeling, I then returned to Finland, just in time to wrap the year up and get myself into holiday spirit.

With all these activities, I was looking forward to some calmer days at home, but with Christmas and lot of things happening in Switzerland the days were as busy as always. Nevertheless I had a great time being together with family and friends and will soon return to Finland in a few days.

With that i wish you all a happy new year!
